A Touch of Classical Wisdom IV

Perfer et obdura; dolor hic tibi proderitolim. Be patient and tough, this pain will serve you one day.

~Ovid (43BC- c. 18AD) A famous Latin poet and precursory to the works of Dante, Marlowe, and even Shakespeare. So he was kind of a big deal.

  1. Sophia,
Just wanted to say your blog is very interesting. The idea that we don’t really own anything is good, works well with my Christian faith/biblical references.

Your in depth research on prima Nocta is excellent, and is probably not dead due to Hollywood starlets/directors etc and people if power misusing authority.

    Good job

    • Thanks for your kind words, Al! šŸ™‚
I’m glad you like the Stoic philosophy, I personally think it jives well with Christianity, but it has been around longer and has a few choice variations on what God is, so it got the ol’ Pagan treatment by Justinian and all of the schools were closed. Now though I think there is a Neo-Stoicism today that blends the two together and some of the most prominent Stoic writers in the past can be found in any old book store!
      Thanks again for reading! šŸ˜€
